Marked Knife Bayonet ONLY, Serial #709 Manufacturer: Scrubbed, Unbranded Model: M1884/98 Blade Length:9.75″ Serial #:709 TEXT GOES HERETEXT GOES HERE –> Offered here is a WWII era German Mauser k98 rifle M1884/98 bayonet. Scabbard is NOT included. There were three patterns. The first was made in 1905-1906, the second was made in 1915-1918 and the third was made during WWII. They are typically blued. During 1933-1945 period, Germany used three different marking systems to identify manufacturers. From 1925-1940 a number code were used. From 1937-1940 commercial trademarks were used. From 1940-1945 letter codes were used. This one has no markings. Overall, this bayonet is in Good – Very Good condition, considering its age and history. The press catch is functional with average spring tension. Both the pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. They both have light scrapes. The finish has started to turn a darker patina color. The escutcheons securely fasten the grip panels. They have light tool marks with strong slots and light oxidation. There is some grit in the slots. The flashguard has a few scrapes and a light bend near the pommel. Both wood grip panels have light scrapes. The wood is grainy and has started to darken with age. The spine, fullers and blade have scrapes and light scattered oxidation. The blade has no nicks or dings and appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. Most of the finish remains with some finish loss along the leading edges. There are NO visible markings. Scabbard is NOT included. This bayonet will be a great addition to your Mauser k98 rifle, or a bayonet collection in general. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
