Antique rare and original WWII US Army Medical Department hospital mess hall ~ four forks and four knives. We believe, due to the tarnish on these, that they may be silverplated over some base metal (possibly nickel). We cannot state for certain what their composition is as we are not metal experts. These are marked U.S.A.M.D. on the lower handle on the front sides. The forks are marked on the back sides with “1877 N. F. Co.: – S. We believe this is Oneida as they acquired this trademark when they purchased Wm. A. Rogers Ltd. in 1929. Wm. A. Rogers had previously acquired this trademark when they purchased Niagara Silver Company around 1900. The N.F. stands for Niagara Falls. The knives have only an impressed diamond mark on the back sides; we have not been able to determine the maker that used this mark. There are no letters inside the diamond. We are not experts on militaria items; we have described these items to the best of our knowledge. Very good used condition. These have typical light wear signs of tiny fine scratches/dings, light rub wear and some tarnish. The patina is not enough to detract from the historical significance of these Army memorabilia items. If desired, these would shine more brightly after an appropriate cleaning/polishing.We are always happy to combine shipping for multiple purchases where possible.
