I am selling a Visconti Homo Sapiens Limited production Steel Age Midi fountain pen. Fitted with Visconti’s small 14kt gold Medium nib. (Fine, Medium and Broad nibs are available for this pen, in separate listings, and as shown for illustrative purposes on the group nib photos of this listing. This listing is for the Medium nib version.) Piston filler, with blind cap operating the filler. Mint, in a special presentation box, with warranty booklet, a complimentary blank premium paper note book, and a polishing cloth. This pen was produced by Visconti as part of the Homo Sapiens range. It is characterized by steel rings on the cap and barrel, and the clip is also made of steel. This pen is made of Visconti’s proprietary basaltic volcanic lava polymer, the constituent basaltic material having been sourced from Mt Etna, one of Italy’s active volcanoes. The material is extremely durable and hygroscopic, in an elegant dark grey-black colour. Approximate dimensions: Length closed is 13.6cm, length open is 12.2cm, width at widest point on cap (excluding the clip) is 1.45cm, and weight empty is 40g. The nib is of better quality than Visconti’s now discontinued 23kt palladium nib. This pen is part of a special un-numbered Limited Production lot of 70 pens with the 14kt gold nib (Rh-plated). The exact lava texture on the pen to be shipped will differ from that in the photos, though the variations in the distribution of natural lava spots and blemishes are generally subtle, and inconsequential for practical purposes. After purchase and before sending each fountain pen, whether a gold, palladium, steel or other metal nib, I will test the nib unit with ink, and check (and adjust as necessary) to ensure it writes correctly. Then I will wash the nib unit and dry it. In this way I can be sure the pen will write correctly…….. BUT sometimes there some residual water/ink will find its way down the feeder during courier air travel. If the buyer prefers this procedure not be undertaken, a message to that effect should be left with the order. However, in such circumstances the writing performance shall not be warranted, and I will not accept returns on account of the writing performance of the nib, or the presence of residual fluid around the nib/feeder.
