Description This is a beautiful vintage white Ni’ihau momi pikake lei with a O’ahu Sunrise Shell and solid 14K yellow gold clasp. The lei is from my personal collection and was a plain vintage white momi lei which was restrung with the sunrise and 14k clasp added, all other shells are original. Probably from the 1960’s-1980s, I purchased it pre-owned. The clasp was custom made, it is solid gold, not gold filled. The sunrise shell is nice and big and measures 29mm it has a custom 14K solid yellow gold bail, the shell is drilled through. The momi are fairly lustrous and good quality. They are white with some light brown spots. There are a few maroon kahelelani scattered throughout the piece. Total length is 18.50 inches. It is in great condition, no missing shells. This item was made in Hawaii, and is at least 80% Niihau shell. The actual percentage of Niihau shell in this item is 95%.
