eBay Verlys Large Dragonflies & Flowers Art Glass Bowl 13 5/8″ diameter All of the art work and collectibles being sold by Adams-Byrd Fine Art & Antiques have been collected and selected one at a time by the proprietor, an art historian with many years of training and experience in university art history departments, museums, galleries, and historic sites both in the U.S. and abroad. The business has been based in the Washington, D.C. area for many years. The art and collectibles that we are offering to eBay buyers are special and unique pieces that have been carefully “curated” by us. This spectacular large signed Verlys glass bowl features three large dragonflies (sometimes they have been called moths or butterflies) with flowers around the perimeter. Most of the bottom surface has a satin / frosted finish (with the exception of the dots / circles on the wings of each dragonfly). The inside of the clear glass bowl has a smooth shiny finish. This large heavy bowl is 13 5/8″ in diameter and under 2 3/4″ tall. All of the design in “relief” is on the outside / bottom of the bowl. The bodies of the dragonflies serve as the feet or supports of this dramatic Art Deco style centerpiece bowl. This signed Verlys bowl (sometimes referred to as a charger or a console / centerpiece bowl) is in very good used condition. Upon very close inspection there are signs of use — including some very faint surface scratches inside the bowl. On the “feet” (the dragonflies’ bodies) there are rubs / wear / scratches —- perhaps from a combination of “use” and also how the surfaces of those areas were finished when the bowl was made. The polished / smooth rim is in good used condition; upon very close inspection you can see some very tiny spots that could be from use or from when it was made. At one point on the outer edge of the rim there is a tiny “fleck”. The condition issues we have just pointed out are quite minimal, but they would still permit a VERY GOOD rating (in fact, between very good and almost perfect). All items we sell are from a pet free and smoke free environment – unless prior owner history is noted above.
