Manufactured at the Jupiter plant in Valdai. ———————————- Helios-44 is a Soviet photo lens of the Helios family, created on the basis of the German Zeiss Biotar 2.0/58 and produced from 1958 to 1999 in different versions as a standard lens for different types of small-format SLR cameras. One of the most popular photo lenses in the world. Initially produced at the Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant and MMZ, and in the late 1980s, production was moved from Krasnogorsk to the subsidiary Valdai plant Jupiter. CJSC Jupiter Plant is a large machine-building enterprise located in the city of Valdai, Novgorod Region. Specializes in the production of optical instruments. The widespread use of multi-layer lens coating in the world prompted designers to implement it on Soviet lenses. The first in the series to receive such an enlightenment in 1987 was the “MC Helios-44M-4”, the production of which was launched at KMZ simultaneously with the bayonet “MC Helios-44K-4”. In addition, without an aperture drive in the camera, it can be closed to the working value only by a special switch on the frame, installed as a repeater and for the possibility of using it with older Zenit models. On the Helios-44M-4, this switch was excluded from the design, leaving the aperture operable only with cameras equipped with a drive pusher. Nevertheless, prototypes of such lenses with an M/A selector are known. Starting with this model, the rear segment was increased for compatibility with the larger mirror of new cameras. For installation on modern cameras, for example with a Canon EF bayonet, adapters with a flange that locks the aperture pusher are available.
