Stetson Model: Cattlemen’s Estimated Era of Manufacture: 1980 to 1990s Quality: 5X Beaver Size: The size tag says 7 but it measured at just under 57 cm which is closer to a size 7 1/8 Brim Width: 4″ Crown Height: 5 as creased, 6″ when open Color: Ranch Tan, which is almost grey but with a warm tint. Retailer: N/AHat Band: Basic 1/4” ivory colored 2 banded ribbon Description of Felt: Medium thickness with finely chopped fur and well felted, probably mostly rabbit with some beaver mixed in to provide rigidity, firmness and good overall structure. There are no moth holes or other obvious defects. As with any 40 year old hat there may be small blemishes that I haven’t noticed or that are too minor to show up in pictures.Sweatband: soft and supple with no broken stitches or other defects. The print is still bright and bold indicating this hat has barely been worn. Note: All my hats come with a handy plastic hat stand, but a brand matching hatbox is not included due to the excessive cost of shipping such large packages. I do have a number of hatboxes so if you want one to go with your hat just pick the one you want from my current listings and I’ll discount half the price of the box and you’ll only pay the shipping cost of the box with the hat shipped inside at no additional cost. I typically maintain an inventory of several hundred hats in various stages of restoration. Over the years I’ve learned a number of restoration techniques from professional hatters and developed my own hat restoration process that I’m constantly refining. If I add up all the hours I put into some of my hats I’m forced to concede that often times this work doesn’t really pay well, but I’m not here trying to get rich selling hats on eBay. I do it out of love and appreciation for the superior quality that went into making these old hats at a time when pride in workmanship and creating a product with enduring value really meant something. One of my favorite qualities of a nice felt hat is its durability and the dramatic metamorphosis that takes place when I transform a dirty, old, neglected, misshapen hat into something beautiful; a hat that looks brand new, ready to bring enjoyment to its proud new owner for another lifetime.
