Every single detail of this guitar was painstakingly chosen for the perfect aesthetics, playability, and tone. This Custom 24 from our latest run is a true stunner in every sense of the word. This one features an absolute world-class spec list: the combination of a Korina body along with an all-rosewood neck and a spectacular Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is simply unheard of. Korina is a historically-renowned tonewood for a reason. This is almost like a “super-mahogany”. It’s got a bit of a sweeter midrange while also being a bit brighter than mahogany while having enhanced responsiveness that really brings out the dynamics in your playing. Korina is a rather difficult wood for luthiers to work with but it’s absolutely amazing for guitars. You don’t see it used quite as often these days, but Korina still drives up prices on vintage guitars, for example, and is a true throwback to the legendary guitars of the late 50’s and early 60’s. Of course, Brazilian rosewood is the holy grail of all tonewoods. Now extremely rare and expensive due to CITES regulations, it is one of the most legendary woods in guitar-building due to its warm, resonant tone and unmistakable grain. Paired with a stunning East Indian rosewood neck, this dream combination offers a smorgasbord of looks, tone, and stability. The 58/15 is PRS’s take on a PAF pickup, but with a bit more oomph and top-end clarity to it. We love the extra brightness and presence that these have and it really goes well with the tonewoods for this guitar. There’s a perfect amount of brightness to cut through any mix, mid-range presence to retain articulation and definition, and tight bass response to give your guitar’s voice fullness and some warmth. The 58/15LT+ variants in this one retain all of that wonderful PAF goodness of the standard LTs along with a little more presence and a little extra punch to them that gives them a bit more versatility, especially if you start to add some gain to your tone. They sound absolutely rockin’ and are full and lush! We think they sound extra-awesome in a 24-fret guitar, as the longer scale length and harmonic placement adds extra clarity and a vocal-like quality to the midrange. We pour a lot of passion into each guitar that we concoct with the PRS team. The goal is always to design instruments that are not only unique and look beautiful, but also sound absolutely phenomenal. This one fits the bill – it’s definitely a lean, mean, shredding machine!
