Although a pristine collection is the ultimate goal of every collector, the reader copy allows a collector to aquire a complete set much faster and far more economically than they anticipated. The reader copy allows a collector to have the opportunity to thoroughly examine and enjoy the many articles, classic humor, vintage advertising, and pictorials without the fear of damaging a higher quality or pristine issue. All reader copies will have the centerfold intact, but will have a a number of moderate to major defects, along with an acculmuation of smaller defects. This may include minor rips, moisture discoloration, page wrinkling, rusty staples, writing on the cover, or other defects. In no way is it a collectable that should be graded. For reference, reader copies would grade on the CGC scale below as VG- or worse, which would be equal to a 3.5 or lower CGC grade. CGC scale: Gem (Gem Mint) – The highest grade assigned. The collectible must have no evidence of any manufacturing or handling defects.Mint (Mint) – The collectible is nearly indistinguishable from a 10.0 Gem but will have a very minor manufacturing defect. It will not have any evidence of handling defects.NM/M (Near Mint/Mint) – A nearly perfect collectible with negligible handling or manufacturing defects.NM+ (Near Mint+) – A very well-preserved collectible with several minor manufacturing or handling defects.NM (Near Mint) – A very well-preserved collectible with minor wear and small manufacturing or handling defects.NM- (Near Mint-) – A very well-preserved collectible with some wear and small manufacturing or handling defects.VF/NM(Very Fine/Near Mint) – A very well-preserved collectible with good eye appeal.
