My name is Carl Harris, I make pipes in my shop in London Arkansas and have sold over 400 of them. I also import a few factory seconds from Italy. If I make the pipe it is branded with a C (C for Carl) on the left (port) side of the Stummel Shank and I sell it for $80-$200. If I modify, repair, or enhance a factory second, I brand it with a C in reverse = Ↄ . After I am satisfied the pipe will be a quality smoking pipe I sell these pipes for $40-$60. Since I have been successful in making good quality pipes (Please read my Customers Reviews), I have learned how to optimize and enhance all sorts of pipes. Estate pipes, factory firsts & seconds, even Dr Grabows can be transformed into a pipe I would smoke. One of my best smoking pipes is a Dr Grabow Silver Duke Author. This pipe is a Molina Second. It is a Stubby Dark Matte Brown Clear Finish Devil Anse with a Red Amber Tortoise Shell Acrylic Stem. This manufacturer coats their bowls with an alcohol/ash coating (pipe mud) and it can be mostly removed with a cotton ball and some Everclear if you don’t like bowl coatings. I have corrected the issues with this pipe that resulted in it not to be branded and sold by the original manufacturer. This stubby Devil Anse has a filling on the left lower portion of the bowl. In my Pipe Making Judgement, this pipe should be a decent smoking pipe.
