This 7 is a Baritone and sports a 27″ scale length. Some specs outside the norm include an insane 5A Quilted Maple top, the custom EXOTIC I-spec neck, custom binding, mixed-gold hardware and a stunning Galaxy Eye Black Satine finish. The Regius line provides an excellent balance between classic design and modern tone. The neck on this 7-string is super comfortable and will require little-to-no adjustment if you’re a 6-string slinger. The low-B is tight, punchy, and really brings the thunder. The extended 27″ scale length lets you easily downtune to an A without worrying about string wobble or ugly fret-slapping. Even if it’s your first baritone or your first extended range guitar, the adjustment period is really minimal. Of course, the excellent design is propelled even further by the excellent craftsmanship on this one. The custom-wound, Mayones-exclusive Bare Knuckle TKO 7 pickup set, while designed for high-gain chug, surprised the players here at the shop with their awesome clarity on clean settings, especially with the coil-split on the volume control. Of course, the TKOs excelled the most at distorted riffage, and we were very pleased with how both single notes and chords sounded huge without getting muddy. A simple master volume control (with push/pull coil-splitting capability) makes this a straightforward 7-string weapon that always sounds great and won’t leave you with any hand fatigue after long sessions or shows. The result of everything here is a perfect marriage of tonewoods and electronics the likes of which we’ve rarely seen.
