You are bidding on one coachmakers grooving or stringing router as pictured.It resembles a spokeshave, but doesn’t have a spokeshave style iron. Instead it has two narrow irons for cutting grooves, one iron about .110″ in width at the sharp edge, and the other iron about .140″ in width at the sharp edge. 1/8″ is .125″ for a comparison.Overall length of the body is about 15-3/4″. It has initials “CAJ” or perhaps “GAJ” center punched in two places, and all three wingnuts have the letter “A” cast into one wing. I don’t see any other markings. The body appears to be brass, while the fence has a more copper color and might be bronze. All of the hardware is cast iron or steel.Condition is good, other than quite a bit of modest casting roughness, some scratches and notches in the body, and some rust on the hardware. All of the hardware operates properly other than one wingnut turns a bit stiffly, and nothing is frozen. It has a nice heft, and weighs 2 pounds 4.7 ounces on my postal scale. SHIPPING: 4 pounds when boxed, shipped US Postal Service Ground Advantage, insurance is included. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it’s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20″ long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30″ long, because those longer packages won’t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. As a bidder, I really dislike going back at the end of an auction to bid, only to discover that the seller had ended the auction early.
