eBay This set of 2 Lilian Vernon ceramic canisters with lids (one is marked) feature a lovely cottage in a large wood or yard with a path leading to the door with large shrubs and a fence. They are all in EUC. They are matching in design and largely a near white (ivory) color aside from the country house motif on top. I cannot detect any chips or cracks, or crazing. There are some inconsistencies in the glazing which appear to be from hand painting but I cannot confirm this. I do not know the age of these pieces but one is marked “Japan” so both are presumed to be made in Japan since they match. Elsewhere on the internet it is said that Lilian Vernon would produce her designs in the U.S. and send her designs overseas to be manufactured. The smaller diameter canister comes with the matching ivory ceramic spoon, which is in excellent used condition, has no cracks in the glazing, no chips. The placement of the spoon is an interesting consideration by the artist. I can only presume this was used for sugar and perhaps the larger jar was for tea or coffee. Larger squat canister measurement: 5” d x 4.25” high Smaller taller canister with spoon measurement: 4.5” high 3.25” dia These measurements include the highest point which is the tops of the ceramic roofs of the houses.
