eBay Description Thank you for your visiting our page! ・There is a 6mm Watanabe mark. If it has the same seal, it is generally considered to be a print from the early Showa period. This is an authentic hand-printed woodblock print. -The publisher is Watanabe Woodblock, a long-established print shop in Tokyo’s Ginza, which is famous for producing prints in collaboration with Shinsui Ito and Hasui Kawase. ・This is the only one that is personally owned. Since I thoroughly enjoyed it, I would like to pass it on to a collector. – Print size = height 38.5cm x width 26cm. Approximate size. ・Print condition: There are signs of aging and sticker removal marks. Perhaps because the washi paper is thick, it doesn’t affect the surface that much, so personally I was able to appreciate the art without any problems. Considering its age, it is in generally average condition. ・Ohara Koson (= Ohara Shoson) 1877 – 1945 Real name: Matao Ohara was born in Kanazawa City in 1877. He studied under Kason Suzuki, a Japanese painter who specializes in paintings of flowers and birds. During his lifetime, he used the painting names Furuson, Shoson, and Toyoson. At the end of the Meiji period, he published flower and bird paintings under the name “Koson” from the publisher Daikokuya, and gained great popularity for creating sketches for export overseas. During the Showa period, he continued to produce works under the name “Shoson” at Watanabe Print Shop, and under the name “Toyoson” under the joint edition of Sakai Kokodo and Kawaguchi Shokai. This is the work of an artist who has been praised overseas but is not well known in Japan. This painting has the name “Shoson” and is a work from the time of Watanabe Print Shop, a publisher in Ginza. Please be sure to read the condition description for product details.
