eBay LEGEND TO THE ILLUSTRATIONS IN THE PRINT BELOW Print Specifics: Type of print: Lithograph – Original French antique print. Year of printing: not indicated in the print – actual 1888 Publisher: Albert Racinet, Imp. Firmin Didot Condition: 2 (1. Excellent – 2. Very good – 3. Good – 4. Fair). The print was originally folded in half by the publisher, resulting in a hard fold/crease and additional very light hairline creases along the fold. I smoothed out the fold a little bit and applied artist’s tape on back to prevent it from reoccurring. Dimensions: 8.5 x 14 inches (22 x 36 cm) including blank margins around the image. Paper weight: 2 (1. Thick – 2. Heavier – 3. Medium heavy – 4. Slightly heavier – 5. Thin) Reverse side: Blank Notes: (1) Green color around the print in the photo is a contrasting background on which the print was photographed. (2) The print detail is sharper than the photo of the print. (3) The photos show the front and back of print + enlarged detail. Legend: Interior of a French Castle, Middle of the 12th Century: The olliustration represents a picture of one of the rooms in a French castle of the 12th Century. On the left is a dinner table, fixed to the ground. On the back wall we see window openings and in the left corner a credenza. The center of the back wall is occupied by a huge fireplace and chimney, which was not used in medival houses before the 12th century. The room is, in effect, divided into three parts: dining on the left, ‘living room’ in the center, and the bedroom part on the right side of the room. The ornamentation of the space include exposed and nicely painted wood ceiling beams, the walls are also painted and the floor is covered with tiles. The prevailing colors include ochre, brown red, blue and green; gold is reserved for the representation of armor. The windows had two frames; the outside was set with stained glass, the inside was filled with oiled paper and served as a shade to protect against the sun rays.
