For sale we have a 1944 Omega Bumper automatic steel cased wristwatch. It is the reference 2375-2 which has one of Omegas first automatic movement within it, the calibre 28.10 RA. As such, it was a significant model in the chronology of Omegas wristwatch design. It is a reference that is known for its stylish splayed lug design, as well as its press on case ring to the rear. The lumed examples have a couple of dial variations, with luminous syringe style hands and thick luminous hour markers. This variation has an Arabic 9, 12, 3 with cut off 6 and dot markers. It has been recently serviced and is keeping very good time. The Stainless-Steel case measures 33mm x 33mm, with a lug-to-lug length of 40mm. This larger lug to lug measurement, combined with the splayed style of the lugs, makes the watch wear larger than its strict width. That is the beauty of this case, the design was so clearly considered. The use of brushed finishing to the central section of the sides of the case, as well as the top of the lugs, allows the case to reflect the light differently, highlighting the complexity of design. The flat bezel provides the perfect frame for the dial with its polished finish. To the right is the original Omega signed crown. The dial is a silver satin tone with a light linear brushing. It has a railroad minute track around the exterior, with luminous Arabic 9, 12, 3 with cut off 6 and dot hour markers. This is a pleasing and balanced layout. The sub second dial is inset, with textured circular concentric circles. It is signed with the Omega logo and name and marked automatic. The lacquer and finish of the dial is noticeably aged. The silver syringe style hands are good and original with radium lume in-fill. To the rear, the case back is secured with an unusual, patented case retaining ring. Once popped off, the solid back can be loosened and removed. Inside it is has the Omega signing, with the reference 2375-2. The bumper automatic calibre 28.10 RA movement is inside. It has the classic rose gold tone plating, which has discoloured and worn in areas. Despite this, the movement is in good condition and is functioning well after its service, keeping time to within +20 seconds a day. Full condition report below. The lacquer has degraded with age and has aged, particularly around the edge of the dial. The hour markers are original, with the original radium lume. The signing is slightly worn to the centre, with the minute track having wear in some areas. Hands: The hands are original. They have the original radium lume in-fill. Glass: The acrylic crystal is original is a modern replacement which is in good condition. Crown: The Omega crown is original and the logo is good and clear. Case: The case is Stainless Steel and is in decent original condition. It has its original mix of polished and brushed finishes. It has some small nicks on the underside of the lugs. Caseback:The case back is formed of steel and is in good condition for the age. It has a case ring which holds the main cover in place tightly. The brushed finish has polished against the wrist with age. It has light surface scratching. Strap: The watch comes on a new, non-omega genuine leather strap, with non-omega steel buckle. Movement: The movement is an Omega calibre 28.10 RA. It is a bumper automatic movement, with a jewel count of 17 and a frequency of 19,800 BPH. It has shock protection. The movement has been recently serviced. It’s keeping time to +20 seconds a day, with an amplitude of 290 degrees and a beat error of 1.3m/s.
