EKM-15E 120 volt 2-wire meter w/ External CT • This is a brand new, electronic kilowatt-hour (kWh) meter, the smallest, most versatile, most advanced kWh meter of its type available on the market. EKM Metering, model EKM-15E, 120 volt, 2-wire, 50 amp, external current transformer (CT) version. • The included CT allows the meter to be easily mounted away from the wires, panel, or equipment. Locate the meter where it is convenient and just run the CT over to the wires being measured. • These were made specifically for metering one leg of our North American 2-wire 120 volt single phase current. They require nominal 120 volts for operation, and will operate correctly from 81 to 149 volts. • Also popular in Canada • The external CT design also has a number of other advantages: the meter itself does not carry the load as meters with incoming and outgoing lugs do. It is a passive system, the wires being read do not have to be cut or altered. • Installation is quite straight-forward. However, installation should only be performed by a knowledgeable, qualified electrician. • There are connections for 120 volts to power the meter, and connections for the included CT. The wire(s) to be metered are passed through the CT and re-connected. • The meter can be mounted up to 6 feet from the CT–the CT has 80 inch-long connection wires. • Multiple meters can be mounted easily on one DIN-rail. Installation and instruction manual included. The easiest way to mount the meter is to clip it to a DIN-rail with the built-in clip-on system. • The meters have a non-resettable 7 digit LCD readout and read directly in kWh (displays hundredths of a kWh, 99999.99 for example), no conversion factors as with some other electronic meters.
